I am not sure I can deal living in a world with Michael. I am from LA so I think it makes it hurt all the more then others from around the world mourning Michael. Narconon Vistabay

I think the two things often feed on each other. If you are good at something it boosts your confidence, and if you are confident . . .

It is almost a month since the death of this huge legend and I can not recover. I can not understand people who say bad about this unusual perfect. These people definitely have a big problem.

We're given false messages about self esteem at early ages. It's not what one does or accomplishes,it's not based on action,it's simply being comfortable with one's self in the world regardless of what others think or say about you.I always felt Micheal Jackson was frantically looking for approval from others,he was trying to save the world instead of himself. He didn't value himself enough in just being in the moment. He was either thinking about the past or the future. No time to think about what he was doing to himself. He never knew how attractive he was either.Very sad.

Phil
I don't know about luckier, but healthy self esteem is a great foundation for a more enjoyable and satisfying life.

Sarah
If you respect yourself, you don't self destruct; and once any addiction takes hold its difficult to sustain a positive self image. As you say, being surrounded by sycophants - plus having huge wealth - can exacerbate these problems.
Religion can be a solution for some, but certainly isn't the only way forward. And I found it more incongruous Alice Cooper playing golf, rather than finding religion.

Johnny
Being able to ignore the negative messages from negative people is where most people fall down. As you say, its just their opinion - not facts

yeah, what a tragedy. My first thoughts were, what a talented man and what a tragic life. Maybe it's self-esteem missing, maybe it's fears, maybe it's being mistreated by his father in his youth. I don't know but all I know is, that self-esteem is for me the key to live a luckier life.

... and by the way, I will miss you, MJ.

I think MJ is not the curse of talent. Many such stars self destructed like Marilyn (debatable), Freddie Mercury, etc & plenty others don't self destruct . While our temperament might have affect our behavior to a certain extent (large percentage of artist and creative people tend to be temperamental) & confidence too play a part, perhaps knowing who you are inside makes a whole lot of difference.

Being a star & with every whim and fancy catered to from the people around also tend to promote "do what I say or you are fired" people who don't dare to tell them what's right or wrong further exacerbate the situation.

See what a relationship with Christ can and did do for Alice Cooper

Anyway, that my 2 cents :-)
