Self Confidence Quotes Video

Over the years, especially since starting this blog, I have collected quotations. Usually classified as “motivational” or “inspirational”, they pop up all over the place! Anything in particular to do with self confidence or self esteem I have copy and pasted into an ever expanding file.

I hope to have an ebook with my favourite 365 quotes ready in the next few weeks (having said that, I had hoped to have it ready last year!).  In the meantime I have tried my had at putting some of these quotes onto photographs, and in turn onto video.

In my motivational pictures post I did say I’m not keen on the very slick posters that are available commercially, and presumably adorn office walls. Whether I’ve gone the opposite way is up to you to decide!

Please give me feedback on what you think – are these videos inspirational or nauseating! Are quotes little more than catchy affirmations, that have little use?

Most of all, leave your favourite quote. Please.

I love inspirational quotes. I love your video and the music – great job.

Best quote:

“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone” ND Walsch. That is one to remember and re-read everyday!

Thanks.

Thanks Andrew, I think the Walsch quote and photo work best together as well

Thanks Beat; mentioning the 365 quotes book was one way of trying to bring it to a conclusion!

Corinne Edwards April 14, 2010 at 7:48 pm

I’m going to leave a quote from my mother, who was a wise and funny Irish lady.

“Never get into a fight you can’t win.”

David April 14, 2010 at 8:21 pm

Interesting quote Corinne; initially I thought it sounded a bit weak, but the more I think about it the more it grows.

Keller Hawthorne April 14, 2010 at 8:18 pm

I love the Elbert Hubbard quote David! Good job on your first video.

My two favorite quotes:

“A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take from you everything you have.” Gerald R. Ford

“The only unbearable thing is that nothing is unbearable.” Arthur Rimbaud

Neither are very uplifting, but they mean a lot to me. I love Corinne’s mother’s quote too :).

Thanks for your comment Keller. I think quotes should make you think, rather than necessarily be “uplifting”. The Ford quote in particular, as we go into an election, I think is worth reflecting on.

Debbie @ Happy Maker April 14, 2010 at 8:42 pm

Great job David. Maybe one day i’ll learn how do do that. I can always hope and dream. Things do happen.
thanks for sharing.

Its not that difficult, although like anything online our skill base gradually expands (largely trial & error in my case!). I got momentum by making a video for my daughters 19th birthday (http://confident1.com/go/twins) using old and new photos & an MP3 track of their sister “singing”. Windows Movie Maker is free on my computer (XP2).

Lance Nelson April 15, 2010 at 9:55 am

Hi David,

I was really inspired by your collection of quotes “….sail away from a safe harbour…” all are quotation gems.

You have achieved that very difficult objective of making a YouTube video that viewers will want to watch right until the end. Your use of real pictures and appropriate music shows a personal touch that I and I am sure many many others will want to see more of.

thank you again

Thank you Lance for your kind words. Once something like this is finished its always easy to see the flaws and want to keep tinkering, so its nice to get such positive feedback.

Tyrone April 15, 2010 at 12:21 pm

Hi David,

I liked your chosen quotations in the video – and not to mention how emotionally connected the pictures are along with these lines. All are perfectly put in place. You really have inspired my day today. 🙂

I guess to some extent the photos do influence how you read and “see” the quotations. As I’m familiar with the photos they have different meaning to me, so its interesting to read your comment. Thanks very much.

Bruce "the Mid-Life Mentor" April 15, 2010 at 1:10 pm

David,

This is a great video! I love quotes for the tweaks they create in my head, Those you shared and your commentors are good to great. I like Twain’s and Corinne’s.
Most of my favorite quotes are from a man who was a citizen of the UK – Sir Ernest Shackleton. He is credited with saying ” Find a way or make a way” and when asked what he would do ,on his 800mile open ocean voyage in a life boat to Elephant Island in order to save his men, if the wind died he replied “Start Rowing”. The wind has died on me many times and I used that advice to good effect.
Good Job and hoping for much more from you.

Thanks Bruce. Its nice to be reminded of Shackleton as his feat was tremendous; I’ll see if I can add that quote to my (ongoing!) ebook.

Joel April 15, 2010 at 5:01 pm

Wonderful video David. Just about the right length and photos and music made it great. The quote about dancing in the rain was my favorite, it’s something we should all learn to do!

The girls in the “rain” photo are my twin daughters who also star in the “sunglasses” and “face painting” – but taken many years apart! Thanks for your complimentary comment.

I love “be good at something. it makes you feel valuable.” I think feeling valuable is very important, and missing in many people’s lives. I loved the video! Lisa

David April 18, 2010 at 4:25 pm

Thanks Lisa. As I built up the video I had doubts about that quote, for some reason, but I’m glad I left it in. I assume most people will have a few quotes that resonate and mean more than the others as we’re all coming from a different place when we watch it.

Amy LeForge April 16, 2010 at 8:08 pm

I love quotes! It’s so nice when a little nugget of wisdom comes my way and gives me something to think about. And your choices of pictures were very nice. Not nauseating at all.

Good luck on the eBook and let us know when you’ve got it done!!

David April 18, 2010 at 4:30 pm

Thank you Amy. As you say, they all represent little “nuggets of wisdom”. As I also said above, somewhere, when the photos are well known to me its hard to judge how others will view them. So thanks for that feedback as well.

Jen @ blog writing services April 20, 2010 at 7:36 am

This is such a lovely project, and the quotes are perfect. My favourite quote of all time is by William Arthur Ward – “If you can imagine it, you can achieve it. if you can dream it, you can become it.”

Sherri--Being the Change I Wish to See April 26, 2010 at 1:58 am

David,

I like them all, but I think my favorite one is:
“Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning to dance in the rain.”

That one fits me perfectly, because it always seems to be raining somewhere in my life.

We everyone be familiar with the importance of expression in all aspect of our life. Our love living will suffers lots if we are not able to articulate what we think on our loved ones.

Hmmmm…The best quote I ever read that changed my life was this…”I couldn’t care less what my enemies think of me. There is a question mark about whether or not they are stupid. Then they open their mouths, and there is no doubt left.”
