Let it be You – Tribute to Jim Rohn

Jim Rohn died yesterday. A leading teacher in the field of personal development, his voice will be heard for many years to come.  I cannot find a video that directly addresses self confidence or self esteem, but this is one of my favourites:-

As he says above:-

"Success is something you attract by the person you become..not something you pursue"

Here are some other quotes from Jim Rohn:-

“Success is doing ordinary things extraordinarily well”

“Time is more valueable than money. You can get more money, but you cannot get more time.”

"If someone is going down the wrong road, he doesn’t need motivation to speed him up. What he needs is education to turn him around."

"Failure is not a single, cataclysmic event. You don't fail overnight. Instead, failure is a few errors in judgement, repeated every day."

"If you are not willing to risk the unusual, you will have to settle for the ordinary."

"Either you run the day or the day runs you."

"Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment."

“If you keep doing what you’ve always done, you’ll keep getting what you’ve always gotten.”

Like Zig Ziglar and Brian Tracy, Jim Rohn was firstly a great salesman and businessman, who then directed his talents to teaching others. His linking the relationship between wealth and personal development can grate, but reflects the era (and poverty) he came from.

Whatever their context, usually his messages made you think and reflect – and hopefully take action.

Someone is going to decide to improve their relationships. Someone is going to enjoy love with their family. Someone is going to schedule some meaningful time with their friends. So why not let it be you?

Someone is going to go back to school to improve their life. Someone is going to become a life-long learner. Someone is going to set a goal to read a book or listen to a CD each week for the next year. So why not let it be you?

Someone is going to look in the mirror and see that they need to lose a little weight and they will make the decision to become healthy. Someone will run their first marathon. Someone will join an aerobics class and improve their health. Why not let it be you?

Personal Development Advent Calender

Moving to the more spiritual, and sometimes mystic, end of the personal development spectrum.  As she did last year Thea Westra has put together 24 video clips all relating to personal development, self improvement or just inspiration. They don't get "released" until the appropriate days – so unlike most advent calenders there is no peeping!

Todays is quite a good clip of Dr Wayne Dyer talking on "Excuses".  A couple of the earlier ones are a bit wacky for my taste, but interesting non the less(!). See what you think.  They are only going to be up for the month of December. Link here:- Personal Development Calender

Rest in Peace, Jim. He definitely was one of the great spiritual and self-confidence influencers of our time. Although I am not sure, I think Tony Robbins was one of his scholars and he is going to proceed with what I see as Jims core message “If you want to achieve something, YOU must take action”.

Thanks for this great post.
